Balancing the Body. Calming the Mind. Restoring Inner Harmony.

Acupuncture is one of the foundational pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)—a complete medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years. At its heart, TCM views the body as a dynamic, interconnected system of energy and form. Health is seen as a state of balance between opposing forces—Yin and Yang—and between the body’s vital energies, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”).

In TCM, illness or discomfort arises when the flow of Qi becomes blocked, stagnant, or deficient. Acupuncture uses ultra-fine, sterilized needles to gently stimulate specific points along energetic pathways known as meridians, helping to restore the natural movement of Qi throughout the body. There are over 365 classical acupuncture points, each with specific physiological and energetic functions.

How Does It Work?

(Western Terms)

From a biomedical perspective, acupuncture is understood to influence the nervous system, increase blood flow, release endorphins, and support the body’s natural self-regulating mechanisms. The insertion of needles has been shown to calm the stress response, promote parasympathetic activity (rest-and-digest), and reduce inflammation. Many clients describe feeling deeply relaxed—sometimes even refreshed—after treatment.

Trauma-Informed Acupuncture

Through acupuncture, Chris has developed the Deep Roots Trauma-Informed Acupuncture Protocols—a gentle and clinically informed approach to helping individuals living with chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, or the long-term effects of trauma.

Drawing on the principles of TCM, combined with trauma-focused teachings from Acupuncturists Without Borders and CT Holman, these treatments emphasize:

  • Stabilizing the Shen (spirit)

  • Supporting the Heart-Kidney axis

  • Calming the sympathetic nervous system

  • Restoring a felt sense of safety and groundedness in the body

This approach is subtle but powerful, helping clients begin to move out of survival mode and into a more regulated, present, and resilient state. You do not need to have a specific diagnosis—these treatments are for anyone seeking greater emotional ease and internal balance.

What to Expect

Each session is tailored to your needs. During your initial visit, your concerns and health history will be discussed through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatments typically involve the gentle insertion of needles, often accompanied by complementary techniques such as:

  • Cupping Therapy

  • Moxibustion (heat therapy)

  • Auricular (ear) acupuncture or ear seeds

  • Electrostimulation or MPS therapy

Many people report a sense of warmth, release, or emotional lightness during or after treatment. Your comfort and consent are always prioritized, and you’ll be encouraged to rest quietly for 20–30 minutes during the session.
